RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk Assessments are legally required under Health and Safety legislation. A Risk Assessment is a vigilant check of your company’s operations and work places where employees and others might face a potential hazard. The assessment should alert you to factors that might cause harm to people and help you to take practical steps to reduce the chance of accident.

The Health and Safety Executive recommends a five-step approach to a work place risk assessment:

  • Identify the hazards
  • Decide who might be harmed and how
  • Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions
  • Record your findings and implement them
  • Review your assessment and update if necessary
